What we collect
The public dictionary does not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address or any other personal details when you search or browse. We do collect anonymous visitor statistics through Google Analytics, described below.
Cookies
The public site uses Google Analytics cookies, named _ga and _ga_Z3E0QT7W49. They tell one visit from another so we can count visitors and see which pages are used. They stay on your device for a limited period (up to two years) unless you delete them sooner.
A separate cookie, tangle_admin_sess, is set only when an authorised editor logs in to the admin area. It keeps them signed in and is deleted when they log out.
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. The dictionary works the same without them.
Your preferences
To make the site more comfortable to use, your browser stores two small settings on your own device:
- your light or dark display choice, which stays until you clear your browser data
- your chosen search direction (both languages, Tangle to English, or English to Tangle), which is forgotten when you close the tab
These settings are not sent to us and are not used to identify or track you. You can delete them at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
Fonts
This site loads its text fonts from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser contacts Google’s servers to fetch the fonts, and Google may receive technical information such as your IP address. See Google’s privacy policy for details.
Analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics (provided by Google) to understand how the dictionary is used, for example how many people visit, which pages and words are popular, and which countries and devices visitors come from. It records information such as the pages you view, the date and time, your approximate location, your browser and device type, and how you reached the site. We use this information only to improve the dictionary, and it is not used to identify you personally.
Google processes this data on our behalf and may store it on servers outside Nigeria. You can opt out by blocking cookies in your browser or by installing Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. See Google’s privacy policy for details.
We do not show advertising on this site and do not sell visitor data.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, date and time, and pages requested) for security and maintenance.
Your rights
If you have questions about your data, or want to make a request under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, contact us at enquiry@wunthusabtangle.com.ng .
Changes
If we change how the site works, we will update this page and its date.
